Jenn picked up the first book at Orlando Indie Fest on a whim. She said the cover looked interesting. Needless to say we devoured the book and have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this the second story. What I didn’t realize was that this is only the 2^nd book the author has written. That honestly floors me!

This is an amazing story, it’s extremely well written. The plot is unique and interesting. The characters are easy to connect with and have quickly carved a place in my heart. I love that it’s not predictable. They go through hell and back and come out stronger for it. They have each other’s back and prove it over and over again.

Kan (Kansas) is one tough lady. She has literally killed those she loves, and has been brutally beaten down physically and mentally. Yet, she preserves and fights and try’s to save the innocents around her no matter what. She is someone you would love to have by your side in any fight. It has a price though, she has closed herself off. She is afraid to let anyone in too closely and in this book we start to see things unravel. She has a wonderful group for friends that won’t let her fail though.

Rudy, oh Rudy. How I love thee. Rudy is just awesome. He has a lot of secrets we are still learning. His past is a bit of a mystery and you just never know what is going to be revealed next. One thing for sure is he loves Kan.

Mac is well he is a great friend to have around. He has his secrets, and sometime I question his motives, but you know that it all comes out of his desire to protect those he cares about.

This story took me on some twists and turns that I didn’t expect. To be honest they threw me totally. I think I have something figured out and then a couple of pages later another twist and I am left reeling again. So many things that just seem off, but I don’t know if I am being paranoid or if it really is that way.

I love that even though they are in the middle of a zombie apocolaypse and they are fighting for their lives almost every day that they have time to just be and have fun. That you can see them having normal conversations while putrids are pounding on the gate is so cool. I literally busted out laughing when they were discussing Kan’s shaving habits. It just seemed so surreal!

This story has everything, a fantastic plot, loveable characters, suspense and gore, love and friendship. This is without a doubt an author I will be stalking so that I don’t miss a single book she releases.
